Local Area of Talacre, Wales

Hilton Park is situated in the picturesque village of Talacre along the coast of North Wales. This little coastal village is host to a lovely sandy beach and its curvaceous sand dunes. The Talacre sand dunes are a favourite hot spot for families and couples with our holiday park nearby.

For wildlife enthusiasts you’ll find that Talacre is home to one of Wales' rarest creatures. At one time, sand-loving natterjack toads were found along the sand dunes of the North Wales coast as far as Anglesey but nowadays they are host to a small region of Talacre near the Dee Estuary. The Natterjack became extinct in Wales during the 20th Century, because of the development of caravan parks but the species was recently reintroduced.

Near to Talacre is the town of Holywell which has a number of alluring attractions:

  • St Winefride’s Well - One of the most popular Welsh attractions
  • Basingwerk Abbey - Built in 1132, the ruins of this ancient abbey are a wonder to explore

The Holywell town centre is a lovely picturesque scene featuring a number of listed buildings from yesteryear.

Over the way you can see Liverpool and perhaps you’d like to take a day out and visit the Tate Liverpool to view some fine art. As the European Capital of Culture 2008 there are a lot of activities and a number of museums to pique your interest such as the Merseyside Maritime Museum at Liverpool’s Albert Dock.
